Shabbazi, Shalom

(fl. 17th cent)
   Yemenite Jewish poet. He lived in a period of persecution and messianic expectations among the Yemenite Jews. According to legend he was a tzaddik and miracle worker. His poetry deals with exile and redemption, the Jewish people and God, wisdom and ethics, the Torah, and the after-life.
